Toledo Dermatologist, Dr. David Kouba is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Before fellowship, Dr. Kouba completed his Dermatology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

 

Dr. Kouba joined the Toledo Clinic in 2008. Dr. Kouba has authored more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters dealing with Dermatologic conditions, Mohs surgery and reconstruction as well as cosmetic surgery techniques.

After growing up in New Jersey, Dr. Kouba attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania where he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology.  After graduation he attended Jefferson Medical College on a Dunglison Scholarship.  It was here that he received both his Doctor of Medicine degree as well as a Ph.D. in Biochemistry.

After growing up in New Jersey, Dr. Kouba attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania where he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology.  After graduation he attended Jefferson Medical College on a Dunglison Scholarship.  It was here that he received both his Doctor of Medicine degree as well as a Ph.D. in Biochemistry.

Building on his research background into the molecular control of skin collagen genes, Dr. Kouba decided on a career in Dermatology.  After graduation, he attended the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital until 2004, where he received his general Dermatology training.  He was then recruited to the University of Maryland where he served as Assistant Professor of Dermatology until leaving for Los Angeles to pursue subspecialty training in Mohs surgery and cosmetic surgery under the auspices of Dr. Ronald Moy, a past president of the American Academy of Dermatology.

In 2007, Dr. Kouba moved to Toledo. At this time, he accepted a position as both Mohs surgeon and the Chief of Cosmetic Dermasurgery at the Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Kouba is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Wayne State Medical School in Detroit. In order to be closer to his family in Toledo, Dr. Kouba joined the Toledo Clinic in 2008. Dr. Kouba has authored more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters dealing with Dermatologic conditions, Mohs surgery and reconstruction as well as cosmetic surgery techniques.  Some of Dr. Kouba's recent publications can be found here.

Dr. Kouba spends his personal time with his two wonderful children, Maya and Maxwell. The three of them enjoy playing squash together, skiing and travel.
