It's crucial to regularly check your skin for signs of skin cancer. The main signs to look for include:

  • New or changing moles

  • A clear, red, brown, or black growth that gets larger

  • Any growth that bleeds or itches

  • Open sores, scabs, or pimples that don't go away

An easy way to remember what to look for is to use the ABCDEs of skin cancer:

A- Asymmetry: Do the sides of the spot you're examining match?

B- Border: Are the borders uneven? C- Color: Are there two or more colors?

D- Diameter: Is the spot larger than 1/4 inch?

E- Evolution: Has it changed in size, shape, color, or symptoms?

If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, you should see a dermatologist. It is recommended to get a full body skin exam at least once a year. Call any of our six locations to schedule your appointment today!
